Fictional Characters
Last updated: October 27, 2026
This notice is about Sargantanit and the odyssey of the new home. Its characters and story are fiction. This page says what is invented and what is real, so nobody has to guess.
1. The characters are fictional
- Sargantanit, the protagonist, and every other lizard and snake in the game are invented characters. They do not represent any real animal, person, organisation or company.
- The invasive snakes and their role in the story are a dramatisation. They are inspired by a real conservation problem (see section 3), but the way they behave in the game is made up for the puzzles.
- The talisman that makes the lizard bigger and stronger, and the giant lizard, are inventions of the game and are always told as fiction.
- The legend of Tanit giving that talisman is a legend made for the game. It is not a historical account or a religious text.
Any resemblance between the game's characters and real people, living or dead, is coincidental. The game has no real people as characters.
2. What is real
- The Pityusic lizard (Podarcis pityusensis) exists. It lives only in the Pityusic islands (Ibiza, Formentera and their islets). The real facts in the game's Diary come with a source.
- Tanit was a real goddess, worshipped by the Punic people in Ibiza. The game borrows her name and her presence in the island's history, with respect, as a legend and not as a statement about her worship.
- The places (Dalt Vila, the coves, Es Vedrà, the salt flats and others) are real places in Ibiza, drawn as stylised floating dioramas. They are artistic interpretations, not maps or plans; levels are puzzles and do not reproduce real routes, buildings or distances.
3. The conservation theme
The story is inspired by the real pressure that introduced species put on native wildlife in the Pityusic islands. The game is entertainment with some educational notes; it is not scientific advice, and it does not call for any action against any real animal. Where the game states a real fact it gives its source. If you find a mistake, write to info@momusa.tech and we will correct it.
4. Not affiliated
Sargantanit is an independent game. It is not affiliated with, sponsored or endorsed by any other game, publisher, institution or brand. Where we say that the game is inspired by the design-by-subtraction of another game, we mean only the idea of small, readable puzzles; no characters, art, music or levels have been taken from it. All the art, characters, music and levels of Sargantanit are original. Names of other games and companies belong to their owners.
